A VERY IMPORTANT TOOL IN DETECTING VIRUSES

We’ve all had an experience with either a virus, worm, adware or a joke program. Irregardless, I believe we’d all like to be able to spot such programs easily visually and end its activity easily.

If you looking for a tool that does this, as well as detecting viruses you may have accidentally executed(maybe by opening an infected cd or usb) then this tool is very essential.

Process Explorer by sysinternals.com, as its name implies explores processes in a very understandable way. Please note that this tool is very powerful and can result in your crashing or accidentally shutting down your computer without any warning.

If you know the file name of the harmful program running, you can identify it easily and “kill the process” or “kill the process tree”. If you don’t know the name, usually, the harmful program/process is usually the last or near the last on the list of processes so you can kill it easily.

Process explorer can also act as or even replace your task manager and do a lot more.

FRUITY LOOPS 9 IS OUT

To everybody who hasn’t heard yet, Fruity Loops 9 by Imageline is out and like previous versions, you can download a free copy to try before you buy with the save function disabled.

What’s different in FL 9?

Fruity Loops 9 has basically the same interface as Fruity Loops 8 but with some extra cool visual effects.

I’ll leave the techy stuff out but lots of technical upgrades were mentioned. There are however 2 new VST instruments, lot’s of drums categorized in “Packs”, extra sound effects, a piano and lot’s of other goodies in “Packs”.

I noticed that the quality of the instruments have improved as well. I haven’t used FL 9 a lot yet to say a lot about it, but it’s clearly gotten a lot of upgrades since FL 8.

THE BEST ELECTRONIC BIBLE

The best electronic Bible that I’ve used so far without any doubt in my mind is e-sword. E-sword has come a long way since its first version and is packed with goodies you can find in the download area. Best of all, e-sword is FREE.


E-sword has lot’s of free add-ons like Bibles, commentaries, study notes, pictures, maps and macros. After installing a couple of these, any preacher doing his research manually will be envious, why? E-sword has a lot of user-friendly features for making devotions, sermons, etc.
My favourite extension is the MS Word 2007 macro that allows you to search e-sword Bibles, copy parts of the Bible... and more from MS Word without having to launch e-sword.

E-sword is a must have for any Christian.

FREE MULTIMEDIA CONVERTERS

Sup? Hope all is well with you. Okay, have you ever tried to or have downloaded a multimedia converter whose creators claim is free but actually isn’t. Let me give you an example I assume most people have encountered. You see a multimedia converter on a website, the creators claim that you can download the software for free, you download it, install it then try to convert something and you’re told by a prompt that only the first few minutes or seconds will be converted. That is very irritating. software creators should not claim their software is free when it isn’t. Alright, I know it’s a long intro, so I’ll get to business.

I won’t talk about it in detail on this page, I’ve got an article dedicated to it here. This is my favourite converter and is the easiest I’ve used before. The interface is cool too(with themes).

SUPER © means Simplified Universal Player Encoder & Renderer. This is by far the most powerful multimedia converter that is 100% free ever created. Honestly, the interface is not the easiest to use but it’s got quite a number of themes as well. SUPER is also a multimedia player. What I love about SUPER is that it doesn’t need any external codec to convert or play the supported formats, every codec needed is installed in SUPER. WAVEPAD

Wavepad, a great software from NCH, is not primarily an audio converter. WavePad is a sound editor program for Windows. This software lets you make and edit voice and other audio recordings. You can cut, copy and paste parts of recording and, if required, add effects like echo, amplification and noise reduction. PRISM

Prism is a program for Windows(by NCH) that lets you convert video files from one format to another. One thing I love so much about NCH is that their softwares, regardless of how powerful they are have tiny download sizes(usually less than 1MB). A real nice and light weight program from NCH, SWITCH, is a program for converting audio files from one format to another. WANT A FREE DICTIONARY?

WordWeb is definitely one of the best if not the best free dictionary you can get.

WordWeb has got a huge dictionary database. Take my word for it, I’ve been using WordWeb for a while now. You can even hear pronunciations of words that you’re not sure of (that is if you have a speech engine installed).
